We are NOW accepting new patients with participating Private Insurance!

The staff and physicians of Healthy Starts Pediatrics understand that your child's health is your priority, and we are here to guide your family on this journey to health with our ongoing support.  We offer an after-hours nurse triage service for your child's urgent medical needs, medically trained phone support staff during regular office hours, year-round Saturday morning hours for acutely ill children and disease protection for your child by ensuring that all children in our practice receive the most up-to-date, life-saving childhood vaccinations as recommended by the CDC.

Annual Well Child Exams

Annual physicals are important, even when your child is healthy.  Remaining up-to-date on these exams and staying current on all required vaccines will eliminate the stress of scrambling at the last minute to have forms completed for school, camp or a number of other activities.  If your child is due for his or her well exam, spring time is the perfect time to get these out of the way before summer sports begin.  And don't forget that driver's form, so your child can practice all summer before school begins again.  We still have some openings for summer well child exams, so call today!

If you are in need of having a PIAA form completed for an upcoming sport, please remember to complete the Health History portion first, and present it to the staff along with the Physician portion of the form.  We must have this before the remaining portions can be completed.  There is a $10 fee for any form not presented at the time of a visit.  If your child has already had his / her well child exam, you may be able to avoid an out-of-pocket form fee by utilizing the free school physicals that are often offered.  Some insurances will also allow physicals per calendar year rather a year from the last physical.  Please contact your insurance company to verify this, and if this is the case, we can schedule your child's well-child exam early and cover the needed sport forms at the same time, saving you the out-of-pocket expense of an extra physical.

Concerns Regarding Measles and Pertussis

As part of Healthy Starts proactive philosophy in addressing the current, fast emerging disease epidemics of Measles and Pertussis, as well as fully keeping with the Center For Disease Control guidelines, we are immediately revising our Vaccine Schedule. We will now be administering the Measles, Mumps and Rubella Vaccine at the 1 year visit instead of at the 15 month visit and the second Booster will now be given at 3 years, rather than 4 years. To provide peak Pertussis protection we will give the Tdap Booster at 10 years of age (5 years after the Kindergarten Booster, rather than at 11 years of age.) These important changes are compliant with School Vaccine guidelines as well. Thank you for Vaccinating and protecting your children!

Our Vaccination Policy

The Center For Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics have long maintained that vaccines are the cornerstone of children's health and life saving disease prevention.  This is also the foundation of trust between parent and provider.  In other words, the doctors of Healthy Starts Pediatrics firmly believe that if parents do not trust us about vaccines, then that trust may also not be present in other aspects of care for their children. In light of the increasing epidemics of Measles and Pertussis in Texas, California and Indiana, we are gravely concerned that such epidemics may occur here if we take a blind eye in enabling parents not to immunize their children.  This also puts the other patients at risk who may be exposed to unvaccinated children harboring diseases in our office, therefore, all of our patients must be vaccinated on CDC/AAP approved schedules.

The providers and staff of Healthy Starts Pediatrics would like to welcome patients, parents, and visitors to the practice website.
It is our intention to use the site for information about the practice and to provide important health information to the families we serve.

Please visit periodically to view progress and explore new information.

Thank you!
